The Fool on the Hill:  Sofa guest my new bodhran

my new bodhran
Well, this is a special story indeed. In the former Celtic Cafe Chatroom I once met Nanna from Nürnberg in Germany. One day I could help Nanna with some music stuff and that was in spring 2001.

Months later Nanna told me, that she would visit again her beloved Irland and if there would be something, she could bring with her as a little "thank you" for my help. I was pleased and told her, that there is something very special, but TOO special for just a gift to bring along from Irland and much too much too expensive.

I told her, that I was dreaming of a good and handcrafted bodhran and how it should look like and that it should be tunable and and and... And I told her - kidding - that if Nanna should meet a musician, a bodhranplayer and if that bodhranplayer wanted to sell his VERY VERY nice and good instrument for about 100 Deutsche Mark (thats the price for 3 CDs !!! LOL), she should buy it for me. As I said: I was kidding (as I love to kid *g*).
About two weeks later I sat on my sofa - as I usually do - and it was in the morning and I had to go out of my house, but I thought, I should sit there and wait a bit, but I did not know, what I should wait for.

Suddenly the doorbell rang and the postman brought a parcel. As I didn't wait for one I thought, it would be for neighbors... But the postman told me, that it was for me. And it came from Irland.

I needn't tell you more, do I? It was a bodhran, it was handcrafted and it was exact the one, I had been dreaming of and Nanna had bought it for me as a gift and she had sended it to me.

Well, even on christmas those things don't happen. Maybe in the life of other people, but not in my. Yes, and that's the story about my new bodhran. Finally I don't know what to say. So there is just a: "Thank you Nanna!"
